Apply for a ration card in Bihar online

  1. Register or log in on the RCMS portal through Meri Pehchaan
  2. Choose a rural or urban card and add the applicant details
  3. Add the member details
  4. Upload the self attested documents and do the final submission within 30 days of starting

  1. Apply through an RTPS counter or a Common Service Centre

Documents to keep ready

  • Aadhaar of every family member
  • Proof of address, e.g. electricity bill or rent agreement
  • Income certificate or self declaration (for PHH or AAY)
  • Passport size photo of the head of family (usually the eldest woman)
  • Bank passbook
  • Surrender or deletion certificate if you had a card in another state or area

Card types

NFSA cards, rural or urban, issued to families covered under NFSA that do not have a card.

Under NFSA the state issues AAY and PHH cards (nfsa.gov.in).

Urban ration card numbers have 21 digits; the search page asks for 20 digits and skips the 9th.
