How to apply

For address or documents, log in on myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in with Aadhaar and OTP
Choose the update, enter details and upload the proof
Note the Update Request Number (URN)
For mobile, photo, fingerprints or other changes, visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra
Pay the fee at the centre and collect the acknowledgement slip
Track status and download the updated e-Aadhaar

Mobile number can only be changed at a centre, not online
Name can be changed twice and DOB only once without special approval

If you do not have it or miss the deadline

There is no fine or jail term for not updating Aadhaar. Old or wrong details may cause trouble with services that use Aadhaar to verify you.

Common reasons for rejection and how to fix them

Reason	How to fix it
Document is invalid, unclear or not on the accepted list	Upload a clear colour scan of an accepted original document.
New details do not match the document	Make sure name, address and date of birth are the same as on the document.
Operator error or wrong details entered	Check every detail before you submit, or ask the centre to correct it.
Limit on the number of updates reached	Contact UIDAI on 1947 or visit a regional office with proof.

How much does a biometric update cost?

₹125 at a centre, including for children aged 7 to 15 since 1 Oct 2026. It is free for mandatory updates at age 5 to 7 and 15 to 17.

Can I change my mobile number online?

No. Visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or enrolment centre. The fee is ₹75.
