You can download your Aadhaar as a PDF from the official UIDAI site. The file is protected by a password made from your name and year of birth.
Govt License never asks for your Aadhaar number or OTP. Only download from official sites. We do not download anything for you, and you never type personal details on our site.
Steps
- Open myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in yourself. Do not use a link sent by a stranger
- Choose Download Aadhaar
- Choose whether to use your Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or enrolment ID
- Enter the captcha and ask for the OTP. UIDAI sends it to your Aadhaar-linked mobile
- Enter the OTP on the UIDAI page only. Never tell it to anyone
- Download the PDF and open it with the password. Use the masked Aadhaar option if you only need to show the last 4 digits
Keep ready
- Your Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or enrolment ID
- The mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, with the phone in your hand to receive the OTP
- Adobe Reader or a PDF app on your phone or computer
Good to know
- The e-Aadhaar you download has the same validity as the original, says UIDAI.
- Download only from myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Cyber cafes and agents may keep a copy of your Aadhaar.
- If you use a shared computer, delete the PDF after use.
PDF password
The password is the first 4 letters of your name in CAPITAL letters followed by your year of birth in YYYY format.
The finder works in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent.
Problems and fixes
| Problem | Fix |

| OTP does not come | UIDAI sends the OTP only to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. If that number is old or lost, visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra to link a new one. |
| PDF asks for a password | Type the first 4 letters of your name in capitals, then your birth year. Example: SURESH KUMAR born in 1990 gives SURE1990. Use our password finder to see yours. |
| Password does not work | Use the name exactly as it is printed on your Aadhaar and the birth year on it. If your name is shorter than 4 letters, use the whole name. |
| PDF will not open on the phone | Install Adobe Reader or another PDF app, or open the file on a computer. |

What is the password of e-Aadhaar PDF?
It is the first 4 letters of your name in capitals and your year of birth, for example SURE1990 for Suresh Kumar born in 1990.
Is a downloaded e-Aadhaar valid?
Yes. UIDAI says the e-Aadhaar downloaded online has the same validity as the original Aadhaar letter.
Can I download Aadhaar without a registered mobile number?
Not online. The OTP goes to the linked mobile, so you first need to link a mobile at an Aadhaar centre, or get a printout at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
