PF transfer to a new job: how to file the online transfer claim
You move your old PF account to your new one by filing a transfer claim on the EPFO member portal.
The short answer
Log in to the EPFO member portal, open Online Services, choose One Member - One EPF Account (Transfer Request), check your old and new accounts, choose who attests the claim, and submit with the OTP.
Your UAN must be active with Aadhaar and a bank account linked.
Track the claim under Online Services, Track Claim.
Govt License never asks for your Aadhaar number or OTP. Only download from official sites. We do not download anything for you, and you never type personal details on our site.
Steps
- Open the EPFO member portal unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in yourself and log in with your UAN, password and captcha.
- Open Online Services and choose One Member - One EPF Account (Transfer Request).
- Check your personal details and your present PF account.
- Click Get details to see the account of your previous job.
- Choose whether your previous or your present employer will attest the claim.
- Select I Agree, enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile and submit.
- Track the claim under Online Services, Track Claim.
Keep ready
- An active UAN and your password
- Aadhaar and a bank account linked to your UAN
- A working mobile number to receive the OTP
- Your old and new PF member IDs, if you have them
Good to know
- EPFO says that once an approved transfer is processed at the old office it moves to your present account without a separate approval at the new office.
- If you filed online, EPFO FAQs say you do not need to send a paper copy. Check the current portal instructions.
- Do not withdraw your PF only to avoid a transfer. A transfer keeps your service continuous.
Problems and fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Your old account does not show | Both PF accounts must be in the EPFO records. If the old job details are wrong, flag them on the portal and ask your old employer to help correct them. |
| You have two UANs | The online route may not work. A physical transfer claim may be needed, so ask your employer or the EPFO office. |
| The claim is stuck | Ask the employer you chose for attestation whether they have approved it. Only one transfer request can be filed against one old member ID. |
