Documents to keep ready

How to apply
- Open eshram.gov.in and choose Register on e-Shram
- Enter your Aadhaar linked mobile number and OTP
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC with OTP
- Fill in address, education, occupation and bank details
- Submit and download your e-Shram UAN card
- No Aadhaar linked mobile? Register with biometrics at a CSC or State Seva Kendra
- Eligible if you work in the unorganised sector, are 16 or older, do not pay income tax and are not an EPFO or ESIC member
- Through e-Shram you can enrol in PMSBY for ₹2 lakh accident death or full disability cover and ₹1 lakh for partial disability
- You can also join PM-SYM pension for ₹3,000 a month after age 60, and find jobs on the NCS portal
- Registration is free everywhere, do not pay anyone for the e-Shram card

If you do not have it or miss the deadline
Registration is free and there is no fine for not registering. You only miss the benefits linked to the UAN. The FAQ page does not mention any penalty. We could not confirm an official penalty for giving false details.

Common reasons for rejection and how to fix them
| Reason | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| You are below 16 or above 59 years old | e-Shram is for workers aged 16 to 59, so you cannot register outside this age. |
| You are a member of EPFO or ESIC | Only unorganised workers outside EPFO and ESIC can register. |
| Your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar so the OTP does not come | Go to the nearest Common Service Centre or State Seva Kendra and register with fingerprint. |
| Aadhaar details or OTP problems you cannot solve | Call the helpline 14434 or file a complaint at gms.eshram.gov.in. |
| Photo is wrong | The photo is taken from Aadhaar and cannot be changed on e-Shram, so update it in Aadhaar. |
