Terms of Service for Professionals
The rules for being listed and for using the professional tools.
What this is
Govt License is a free, independent directory. It lists facts about professionals who asked to be listed and showed proof. It is not an advertisement, a recommendation or a ranking, and it is not a party to any agreement between a professional and a client.
Who may be listed
You must be 18 or older and, where a professional body registers your profession, hold a valid registration: ICAI for Chartered Accountants, a State Bar Council enrolment for advocates, ICSI for company secretaries. Licence consultants have no professional body; we check identity and proof of work. Your details must be true and kept up to date. We list you only after an admin verifies your proof, and we check again every year.
What a listing shows
Your name, firm (if given), qualification, registration number (with a verified mark), years of practice, courts and forums (advocates), languages, cities, services, a “starting from” price for each service, and your UPI ID or payment link if you choose to show it. It never shows your phone number, email or photo. Clients reach you only through an enquiry or the Contact button.
What a listing never shows
No ratings, reviews, rankings, “best” or “top” labels, testimonials, awards or paid placement. Listings appear in random order that changes on every visit. We will not sell a better position to anyone.
Your professional rules still apply
You are responsible for following the rules of your professional body, including the Bar Council of India Rules on advertising and solicitation for advocates, the ICAI Code of Ethics for Chartered Accountants and the ICSI rules for company secretaries. A listing here is information given at your request. Do not use enquiry details to solicit anyone who did not ask for help, and do not claim anything about results.
Enquiries and client data
A visitor sends an enquiry. We send it to up to 3 verified professionals who offer that service in that city, or only to the professional the visitor chose. Use the visitor's details only to answer that enquiry. Do not share them, do not send promotions and do not keep them for any other purpose. Client data you hold in the portal is handled under the Data Processing Terms.
Sensitive matters
For family, divorce, maintenance, custody and criminal matters we collect only a name, contact, city and category, no case details. Those requests go only to the professional the client chose. Do not ask a client to type case details into our forms.
Money
Clients pay you directly. We never take a percentage, commission or share of your fee, and we never hold client money. If we start a paid plan later it will be a flat monthly or yearly charge, we will give you at least 30 days' notice, and a free option will remain.
Your content and our rights
You are responsible for what you enter and upload. Do not upload anything you have no right to share. Proof files are private and used only to verify you. We may remove content that is false, misleading or unlawful.
Suspension and removal
We may suspend or remove a listing if a registration lapses or is suspended, a detail is false, a client or the professional body complains and we cannot resolve it, or these terms are broken. We tell you why. You can write to us if you think we made a mistake.
Leaving
You can delete your professional profile at any time in your dashboard. It removes your profile, services, proof files and enquiry history from the portal.
Law and contact
These terms follow Indian law. Questions or complaints: Piyush Chawla, Grievance Officer, [email protected].
