Music license fee for a restaurant or shop

Restaurant or café: ₹17,500 + ₹20,000 (a year: PPL (21 to 40 seats, metro) plus IPRS (restaurant, metro); GST extra), as listed in the PPL restaurant tariff. The fee depends on seats and city size. GST is extra.

Shop or store: the PPL shop tariff starts at ₹6,300 a year for an Indian brand store of up to 200 sq ft, and rises with area. See the PPL shops and stores tariff for your size.

Salon or beauty parlour: ₹12,000 a year up to 1,000 sq ft and ₹18,000 for 1,001 to 3,000 sq ft (PPL tariff). Gym: from ₹7,500 to ₹15,000 a year for up to 1,500 sq ft, by city class, with extra for Zumba or aerobics classes (PPL tariff).

IPRS (the composers and lyricists society) charges its own licence, so a restaurant pays both. The IPRS fee for a shop, salon or gym is not officially verified here; see iprs.org. PPL fees checked on 18 October 2026.
